Performing Abhishekam or the act of sacred bathing, which is also known as ‘Anointment ceremony’ is an expression of love for the deities. It creates a sense of belonging and personal connection to the Supreme being. Each of these materials used for performing the ‘Abishegam” (Anointment ceremony) has different properties and a special significance associated with it. Performing the ritualistic practice of Abhishegam with an understanding of its significance helps us to focus on the Supreme and to attain immense bliss.

 

அபிஷேகம் அல்லது திருமஞ்சனம் என்பது உரிய திரவியங்களைக் கொண்டு (பொருட்களை) இறை திருமேனிகளை புனித நீராட்டுதல் என்று பொருள் படும் அபிஷேகப் பொருலள்களை ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட வரிசையில் கிரமாக செய்வது முறையாகும் சிற்சில மாற்றங்களுடன் சிறப்பாக உலகெங்கும் கோயில்களில் செய்யப்படுகிறது தெய்வங்களுக்கு ஏற்றவாறு சில பொருட்களை நீக்கியும், சில பொருட்களை சேர்த்தும் செய்வது வழக்கமாகும். ஒவ்வொரு அபிஷேகப் பொருள்களும் ஒவ்வொரு சிறப்பு பலன் களைத் தரவல்லது ஆகும்.
